Job Description
Summary
The Senior Information Systems Security Officer supports secure classified processing environments, drives RMF activities, and ensures system authorization compliance. This role maintains security policies, oversees monitoring, and supports enterprise-wide cybersecurity operations. The position delivers security leadership in support of mission-critical systems.
Key Responsibilities
- Assist in developing and maintaining information system security programs and policies
- Provide technical and procedural IS security guidance regarding RMF processes
- Administer, maintain, and audit computer systems and networks for classified processing
- Develop and oversee operational information systems security implementation policies and guidelines
- Maintain security authorization repositories using eMASS
- Coordinate security inspections, tests, and reviews
- Ensure appropriate actions are taken when incidents or vulnerabilities are identified
- Support development and implementation of security education, training, and awareness programs
- Ensure adherence to Configuration Management policies for hardware, software, and firmware changes
- Maintain working knowledge of system functions and security safeguards
- Manage and execute the information security continuous monitoring plan
- Maintain records of vulnerabilities and report issues to the appropriate authorities
- Assess system and environmental changes that may affect security authorization
Required Qualifications
- Active Secret DoD security clearance
- Bachelor’s degree in a related field with 4 years of related experience
- DoD 8570 IAT-II compliant
- Knowledge of CSfC and Cross Domain Solutions
- Understanding of NIST 800-53r5, RMF, Executive Order 14028, and OMB Mandate M-22-09
- Experience with eMASS
- Strong communication and cross-functional coordination skills
- Master’s degree and recent experience supporting system authorizations preferred
