Summary

The Vehicle Dynamics Engineer is responsible for the development, tuning, and validation of vehicle ride, handling, and chassis systems. This role leads vehicle dynamics performance integration from concept through production to ensure vehicles meet performance, safety, and customer satisfaction targets.

Key Responsibilities

  • Develop and tune vehicle ride, handling, steering, and chassis control systems to meet performance requirements.
  • Lead tire development activities including ride quality, steering response, and performance across varied conditions.
  • Define and manage vehicle development test plans including schedules, milestones, vehicles, locations, and supplier coordination.
  • Apply analytical models to evaluate system performance and guide hardware and integration decisions.
  • Install and operate vehicle instrumentation, execute testing, and analyze data to validate performance against requirements.
  • Track vehicle dynamics performance metrics and develop solutions to close gaps related to quality, durability, and customer satisfaction.
  • Communicate performance status and risks to program teams and integration leadership.
  • Demonstrate vehicle dynamics performance to internal leadership and external audiences as required.
  • Support production launches, assembly plant activities, and continuous product improvement initiatives.
  • Collaborate with engineering teams, suppliers, and plant personnel to implement design improvements and cost reduction initiatives.
  • Travel to internal and external test facilities as required to support development and validation activities.

Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Technology, Applied Physics, or a related technical discipline.
  • Five or more years of experience in vehicle dynamics, chassis development, or vehicle performance engineering.
  • Strong experience in subjective evaluation of ride, handling, steering, stability, and braking performance.
  • Proven ability to develop suspension, steering, tire, and control system solutions to meet vehicle level performance targets.
  • Working knowledge of vehicle dynamics analysis tools, testing procedures, and development methodologies.
  • Understanding of tire mechanics, vehicle dynamics theory, and validation practices.
  • Ability to adapt to changing priorities and support tasks beyond standard responsibilities.
  • U.S. person status as defined by applicable regulations.
