Job Description

Summary

This role leads systems engineering and validation strategies for autonomous vehicle software within the AV organization. The engineer defines requirements, testing strategies, and roadmaps that support safe and scalable autonomous operations. The position drives innovation in systems design, verification, validation, and AI-enabled development while collaborating across engineering, safety, and program teams.

Key Responsibilities

  • Define requirements and metrics for validating autonomous vehicle operations
  • Decompose complex programs into actionable systems and define acceptance criteria
  • Prototype simulation-based and road-based testing strategies supporting continuous release cycles
  • Apply systems and data analysis to support design decisions, validation, risk analysis, and prioritization
  • Own roadmaps for long-term requirements, V&V strategies, and software solutions across product lifecycles
  • Mentor team members and facilitate cross-team collaboration on software validation strategies

Required Qualifications

  • Advanced degree in mechanical engineering, aerospace engineering, physics, computer science, data science, or related field
  • Ten or more years of experience in systems engineering, robotics, systems analysis, data analysis, or related fields
  • Proficiency in product decomposition, requirements management, system analysis, and validation activities
  • Strong analytical thinking skills with ability to interpret data and draw impactful conclusions
  • Ability to operate under ambiguity and transition between rapid prototyping and long-term planning
  • Excellent communication skills for both high-level and detailed discussions
