Job Description

Summary

This role leads the design, development, testing, and integration of Lidar hardware and software for next-generation automated driving programs. The engineer will oversee component development, supplier management, and system integration while ensuring cost, timing, and quality targets are met. The position requires deep knowledge of Lidar and optical sensors and the ability to resolve complex technical issues.

Key Responsibilities

  • Serve as design release engineer for Lidar hardware and calibrations
  • Apply system-level understanding to root cause technical issues
  • Organize and drive design for manufacturing initiatives
  • Develop component technical specifications and subsystem requirements
  • Lead design, peer, and quality reviews
  • Resolve technical issues and drive engineering solutions
  • Lead product development team meetings
  • Manage supplier resident engineers and support sourcing activities
  • Support vehicle FMEA activities
  • Act as primary engineering interface with component suppliers
  • Ensure vehicle program imperatives for cost, timing, investment, and quality
  • Generate technical solutions for current and new programs
  • Develop engineering designs and implement engineering changes
  • Release parts and subsystems for production
  • Plan and implement validation and development programs
  • Collaborate with manufacturing and cross-functional teams
  • Support cost reduction, methods improvements, and product optimization

Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in engineering, physics, math, computer science, or chemistry
  • Three or more years of engineering experience in a related field
  • Working knowledge of Matlab, Python, and C++
  • Strong communication skills
  • Understanding of engineering theory and computer/electrical mechanisms
  • Demonstrated technical and professional skills in job-related areas
  • Ability to work independently and collaborate effectively with partners
  • High analytical ability to solve unusual and complex problems
