Job Description

Summary

Our client is seeking a Mainframe Developer to support and enhance core mainframe applications. This role involves hands-on development, debugging, and maintenance of business-critical systems while collaborating with technical and business teams. The position requires strong analytical skills and the ability to work independently in a dynamic environment.

Key Responsibilities

• Provides day-to-day support, ad-hoc requests, and maintenance of designated software and systems.
• Handles complex application features and technical designs.
• Analyzes project requirements and develops technical specifications.
• Designs, develops, tests, debugs, and implements code for new and existing applications.
• Ensures secure coding practices, compliance, and documentation standards.
• Leads assignments with minimal supervision and participates in full project lifecycle.
• Collaborates with business users to translate requirements into functional specifications.
• Supports implementation, production changes, and participates in incident management.

Required Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree preferred or equivalent experience.
• Experience coding and debugging Mainframe platforms.
• Strong hands-on knowledge of COBOL, SQL, CICS, debugging, and utilities.
• Experience with JCL/PROC, VSAM, SYNCSORT, and file-based interfaces.
• Strong DB2/SQL and relational database skills.
• Proficient with tools such as Xpediter, Intertest, CA-Scheduler, IBM utilities.
• Knowledge of MQSeries in batch and CICS environments.
• Knowledge of XML is a plus.
• Proficient with Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Visio.
