Job Description
Summary
The Release Manager / Engineer oversees the coordination and delivery of products from development through production. This role focuses on release planning, change management, and continuous delivery to ensure smooth, secure, and conflict-free deployments in complex enterprise environments.
Key Responsibilities
- Direct and manage product releases from development through production
- Oversee coordination, integration, and flow of development, testing, and deployment to support continuous delivery
- Lead release planning and scheduling to avoid conflicts with upgrades, testing, and blackout periods
- Publish forward schedules of change to support impact assessments and subordinate releases
- Ensure adherence to customer change management procedures
- Recommend and implement process improvements including automated deployments
- Facilitate regular release planning and release management meetings
- Coordinate across development, testing, operations, and stakeholder teams to ensure release readiness
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree with 12+ years of relevant experience or equivalent professional experience
- Recognized Agile certification such as SAFe, Scrum, Kanban, XP, Lean, or Scrumban
- Active Secret clearance or interim TS clearance
- Strong experience in release management, change management, and continuous delivery practices
- Solid understanding of the software development lifecycle
Preferred Qualifications
- Five or more years of release management or project management experience in an IT environment
- Bachelor’s degree in Information Technology, Computer Science, Information Systems, or a related field
- Project Management Professional, ITIL, or comparable project or program management certification
- Experience providing technical and engineering leadership across complex, interrelated initiatives
- Advanced knowledge of enterprise-scale software development and deployment processes
