Job Description
Summary
The Senior Systems Engineer, Perception plays a critical role in defining and executing verification and validation strategies for autonomous vehicle perception software. This position leads safety focused evaluation methodologies, enabling trusted deployment of AI driven perception systems across advanced driver assistance and autonomous vehicle programs.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead the definition of requirements, metrics, and validation strategies to ensure safe and reliable perception system performance.
- Own analysis and characterization of perception capabilities to directly influence software development priorities and launch readiness decisions.
- Design and prototype simulation based and road based testing approaches that support scalable and continuous software release cycles.
- Apply systems engineering, data analysis, and risk assessment techniques to guide data driven validation and prioritization decisions.
- Develop and maintain long term roadmaps for perception validation methodologies, verification frameworks, and supporting software solutions across multiple product lifecycles.
- Mentor engineers and drive cross functional collaboration to establish best practices for perception validation across new product launches.
Required Qualifications
- Advanced degree in mechanical engineering, aerospace engineering, computer science, data science, physics, or a related technical discipline.
- Seven or more years of experience in systems engineering, robotics, autonomous systems, data analysis, or related fields.
- Strong proficiency with Python, SQL, and C++ for large scale data analysis and evaluation.
- Demonstrated experience evaluating machine learned systems and defining acceptance criteria for perception, state estimation, or robotics functions.
- Deep knowledge of perception evaluation metrics such as precision, recall, and footprint overlap.
- Proven ability to operate in ambiguous environments, balancing rapid prototyping with long term validation planning.
- Excellent communication skills with the ability to engage both technical and non technical stakeholders.
