Job Description

Summary

The Director of Operations oversees production, quality, delivery, and workforce development to ensure operational excellence and alignment with organizational strategy. This role leads manufacturing execution, quality partnership, engineering coordination, and cross-functional alignment to deliver engines and components safely, compliantly, and on schedule.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead daily production operations including Assembly, Test, Sub-Assembly, and manufacturing coordination
  • Drive safety, quality, delivery, cost, and workforce performance through KPI management and structured operational cadence
  • Maintain production flow by resolving roadblocks and coordinating resources across teams
  • Ensure compliance with AS9100, internal QMS requirements, and customer specifications
  • Partner with Quality to drive RCCA, improve first-time-through success, and maintain documentation accuracy
  • Implement standardized work, material flow, scheduling, and continuous improvement systems
  • Develop operating system maturity through planning, visual controls, governance, and problem-solving
  • Lead and mentor technicians and operational staff while building a culture of accountability and disciplined execution
  • Align program schedules, build readiness, technical changes, and resource plans with cross-functional teams
  • Lead continuous improvement using PDCA, A3, DMAIC, 8D, and real-time problem-solving
  • Report operational risks, performance metrics, and recovery plans to leadership
  • Support customer visits, audits, testing readiness, and safety compliance

Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Operations, Manufacturing, or related field
  • 10 years leadership experience in manufacturing operations
  • Expertise in Lean, Six Sigma, standardized work, and problem-solving systems
  • Experience in high-mix, low-volume aerospace or advanced manufacturing
  • Strong coordination skills across Engineering, Quality, Supply Chain, and Program Management
  • Ability to obtain and maintain a U.S. security clearance
