Job Description

Summary

This role leads the design, development, testing, and implementation of embedded software for the Digital Key domain. The specialist provides technical leadership, strategic direction, and cross-functional alignment across engineering, mobile, back-office, and supplier teams. The position drives roadmap execution, software quality, and innovation in customer-facing vehicle features.

Key Responsibilities

  • Influence and collaborate with cross-functional teams to execute the Digital Key roadmap
  • Engage with program, product, systems, and engineering teams to deliver Digital Key functionality on time
  • Provide technical leadership and vision to drive innovation
  • Foster a high-performing, collaborative environment within GM and with suppliers
  • Provide guidance on work priorities for engineering teams
  • Develop software designs and review solutions for safety and efficiency
  • Plan and negotiate software release schedules and content
  • Support agile practices by identifying and removing impediments
  • Champion adoption of new tools and processes
  • Develop, coach, and mentor engineering team members

Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in engineering
  • Four or more years of Digital Key experience
  • Eight or more years of embedded software development experience in the automotive industry
  • Strong programming experience in C, C++, and Python
  • Knowledge of requirements engineering including FMEA, hazard analyses, and model-based systems engineering
  • Experience with automotive software standards, test methods, and build processes including TDD and BDD
  • Experience with software configuration management tools including the Git ecosystem and Jira
  • Experience with vehicle electrical architecture standards including ISO 14229, cybersecurity, Ethernet, and CAN
  • Experience with SIL, HIL, or other virtual testing environments
  • Knowledge of controls theory and software development processes
  • Strong analytical ability and demonstrated technical leadership
  • Strong communication and time management skills
  • Ability to manage multiple projects with high accountability
  • Experience with Lean and Agile principles
